Charles Ellis

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Deacon Charles E. Ellis, a native of Calhoun County, was reared in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where he graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1951. Following an honorable discharge from the United States Army and after forty-five years of supervisory positions in the textile industry in New York and Tennessee, Charles and his wife Della retired to live a quiet life with family and friends in Orangeburg. He renewed his membership at his home church, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Cameron, where he served faithfully as a deacon. They later returned to Brooklyn, New York, to be with their children, grandchildren and great-grands. Once they returned, Charles rejoined Salem Missionary Baptist Church where he continued serving as a deacon until he was called to glory on July 12, 2019.
