BAMBERG -- Funeral services for Bishop James B. Mayberry Jr., 65, of 420 Seminole Trail, Bamberg will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2019, at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Bamberg.
Bishop James B. Mayberry Jr. was born on Sept. 21, 1952, to the late James B. Mayberry Sr. and Bishop Lucy Miles-Smith in Gainesville, Florida. Bishop Mayberry accepted Christ at an early age and continued on his walk of faith. In 1987, he was ordained as a church official. After relocating to Virginia, he was installed as the presiding Bishop of the Winning Souls for Christ, Inc. Bishop Mayberry was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Mayberry of the home; 10 children left to cherish his memory: sons, James B. Mayberry III (Carla) of Pennsauken, New Jersey, Daron Richburg of Hartford, Connecticut, Akeem Mayberry of Newport News, Virginia, Shermaine (Tonya) Davis of Jacksonville, Florida, Ernest (Evette) Murdaugh of Bamberg; daughters, Jessica Mayberry of Newport News, Virginia, Amanda (Melvin) Stowbridge of Jacksonville, Florida, Felicia Ricers of Jacksonville, Florida, Pastor Stephanie (David) Brabham and Tobiah (Coty) Jamison, both of Bamberg; brothers, Willie (Beatrice) Mayberry, James (Ann) Mayberry, Lee Mayberry, all of Gainesville, Florida, Pastor Matthew (Kathy) Smith of Jacksonville, Florida, Sgt. Ulysses (Bertha) Mayberry of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Mark Smith of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Lucille Miles and Althea Mayberry of Gainesville, Florida, Diane (Pastor Robert) LeCount, Naomi Mayberry of Jacksonville, Florida, and Mausella M. Mays of Colonial Heights, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services.
