NEW YORK -- Berria “Barry” Wiggins, 55, of New York, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at Wyckoff Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019, at Savannah Creek Baptist Church in Ehrhardt. The burial will follow in Savannah Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Ehrhardt.
Mr. Wiggins was born to Louise Griffin- Wiggins and the late Furman Wiggins in Olar. At an early age, Barry became a member of Sweet Rest Baptist Church in Olar. He attended Denmark-Olar public schools before migrating to Manhattan, New York. He lived most of his adult life in the Bronx and Brooklyn, New York. Employment involved various occupations, from a day laborer in construction, janitorial maintenance and later as a home health aide for clients with physical disabilities. He also worked in the metropolitan as a live-in care provider.
Survivors include his mother, Louise Wiggins; two sisters, Furmell Henderson of New York, Deloris Richberg of North Carolina; three brothers, James Wiggins and Timothy (Sharon) Wiggins, both of South Carolina, and Roddy (Sandra) Wiggins of New Jersey; 18 nieces and nephews; 16 great-nieces and great-nephews; four uncles and five aunts; and a host of extended family members.
Immediately following the burial, the family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall for repast.
The Carroll Mortuary of Bamberg will be in charge of the services.
