Orangeburg County Coroner Samuetta Marshall announced that the pedestrian killed by a vehicle on Interstate 95 has been identified as a 26-year-old Delaware man.

The man was Paul D. Tarashuk of Lewes.

Tarashuk died at 5:46 a.m. Monday at mile marker 97, which is near Santee, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Judd Jones.

Tarashuk was nude and was walking in the roadway, Jones said.

The driver of 2009 Toyota sedan was traveling southbound when her vehicle struck Tarashuk, Jones said.

Information sought in hit-and-run collision in Orangeburg County

The driver of the sedan, a 56-year-old woman, was not injured. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Both the S.C. Highway Patrol and the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office are looking into the incident.
