New America, a non-profit organization, is offering a financial assistance program for small business owners.

The program, known as the Business Individual Development Account, is a special matched savings account designed to help prospective business owners establish a pattern of regular saving so they will be able to use the accumulated funds and match money provided through the program toward a small business.

The IDA Program is one of several initiatives New America offers to the Orangeburg community. The organization specializes in business development, affordable housing and education.

“The vitality of a community depends greatly on the strength of its business community, value of education, access to safe and affordable housing and support to provide quality of life opportunities,” said Adolphus Johnson, founder and president of New America.

New America, located at 1747 Amelia St., Orangeburg, will host a meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday for those interested in learning more about the Business Individual Development Account program.
