The Original Six Foundation announced Monday the organization’s Practice Makes Perfect Homework Centers are expanding into Denmark-Olar Elementary School, Allendale-Fairfax Middle School and Palmetto Middle School in Marion County.
Previously serving fourth- through eighth-grade students, the O6 Foundation’s after-school programing will extend to third-grade students for the 2019-2020 school year.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with local communities and schools in our rural districts to reach even more South Carolina students. These kids are smart and they are excited to learn. We want to give them the extra attention and resources they need to think big, dream big and know the sky is the limit for them,” former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley said.
Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, is founder and chair of the O6 Foundation. She’s a Bamberg native and Orangeburg Preparatory Schools graduate.

Practice Makes Perfect Homework Centers aim to provide students with hands-on, individual support from teachers and volunteers in order to achieve their academic goals. Each program operates Monday through Thursday with at least two certified teachers and aids students in the completion of homework assignments in order to reinforce school day learning.
“Without the O6 Foundation’s Practice Makes Perfect Homework Program, the students of Jonesville Elementary Middle would not have access to homework assistance. Having the program housed within our building allows for constant communication between the classroom teachers and program teachers, making it easier to meet the needs of our students,” Jonesville Elementary Middle Reading Coach Crystal Bryant said.
In addition to the new locations, existing programs at Richard Carroll Elementary School, Manning Junior High School and Jonesville Elementary Middle School will continue into the 2019-2020 school year.
Founded in 2011 by Haley, the O6 Foundation works to improve education by identifying gaps and filling them through hands-on engagement and resources.
