The Girl Scouts of Eastern SC's Geraldyne Zimmerman Scholarship Committee will host the groundbreaking and dedication of the Geraldyne Zimmerman Butterfly Garden with a butterfly release.

The new Geraldyne Zimmerman Butterfly Garden will be located at the Zimmerman Youth Center, 759 Peasley St., Orangeburg. The butterfly release will also take place at this location.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 24.

The event is free to the community and will feature crafts, songs and games. Addie Ledbetter, Miss Orangeburg and Gold Award Girl Scout, will be in attendance.

The event is being held to help promote an awareness of education, Girl Scouts and the contributions of Geraldyne Zimmerman in advance of the Geraldyne Zimmerman Scholarship Gala at The Cinema on Sept. 20.
