Denmark Technical College celebrated 71 years of teaching students at its graduation ceremony on May 3. A boisterous crowd was in attendance.

The commencement speaker was Barnwell Mayor Marcus A. Rivera, who spoke about his upbringing and how important education was in his life.

The Student Presidential Achievement Award for 2019 was given to Marcus Ford. This award is given in recognition to the student who has given outstanding contributions to the college over the past school year.

Among the graduates were 22 dual-enrollment students from Blackville-Hilda High School and Denmark-Olar High School who graduated with a certificate in general studies.

Denmark Tech’s dual enrollment program enables high school students to earn college-level credit while still attending high school at no charge. Afterward, the graduates and their guests were invited to a reception.

Denmark Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees, diplomas and certificates.
