St. Matthews

A St. Matthews woman reported on Feb. 2 that her husband, from whom she is separated, assaulted her.

The woman said he slapped her in the face three times, knocking her down. She said she then picked up a cinder block and hit his truck window on the passenger side.

In an unrelated incident on Feb. 11, an officer who stopped a silver Kia Sorento found that the driver, an Orangeburg man, had no license or insurance. The tag on the car was taken from another vehicle.

The suspect was arrested and the vehicle towed. Inventory of the vehicle revealed an open bottle of Seagram's Extra Dry Gin and another vehicle tag.

The suspect was transported to the Orangeburg County Detention Center.

Sheriff's Office

A Columbia woman reported on Feb. 10 that her bluish-gray 2005 Chevrolet Impala was stolen from a St. Matthews residence.

The Sheriff's Office was notified that the vehicle was involved in an accident in Orangeburg and left at the scene. The vehicle was valued at $2,000.

In other reports:

• A Swansea man reported on Feb. 10 that someone forced their way into his residence and removed a 70-inch television valued at $700.

• A Leesville man reported on Feb. 19 that someone cut the chain on the gate on a Gaston self-storage facility and broke into storage units and took their contents. The loss was estimated at $251.

• An Orangeburg woman reported on Feb. 14 that her someone stole her 20-foot trailer with $10,000 worth of equipment inside.
