Three occupants of a 2008 BMW sustained injuries at 10:32 p.m. Tuesday night after it collided with a tractor-trailer, according to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Judd Jones.

A 33-year-old man was driving a 2008 BMW north on U.S. Highway 301 when it collided with a tractor-trailer trying to turn onto Old State Road.

Jones said the BMW’s driver was wearing a seatbelt and sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries when he was ejected from the vehicle. Orangeburg County EMS transported him to the Regional Medical Center and then to Palmetto Health Richland.

Another passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries. Jones said it is unknown if that passenger was wearing a seatbelt.

Jones said the accident remains under investigation by the SCHP.
