A rest area supervisor called deputies after finding a handgun in the women’s restroom.
On Oct. 5, the supervisor of the westbound Interstate 26 rest area reported discovering a handgun in one of the stalls in the women’s restroom. It was a red SCCY CPX-1 9MM handgun. An NCIC check rendered no record.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office took custody of the weapon.

• On Oct. 6, a Cameron woman reported that she would like to have a Cordova man placed on trespass notice. She said she is having problems with him removing things from her property.
• On Oct. 7, a deputy was called to speak with the Swansea police chief. The chief said a maroon, four-door Kia Sedona had been taken from the Hardee’s restaurant in Swansea. The vehicle was located at the home of a Gaston woman. Two males were interviewed by the deputy, and one of them admitted that he had taken the vehicle. Swansea Police Department called a tow truck and took the man into custody.
• On Oct. 4, a St. Matthews woman reported that she left the keys in the door of her red, four-door Dodge Charger, and when she returned to get them, they were gone. After reviewing the surveillance tape of the area, she identified the suspect as an Elloree man. The subject was not located, but the case will be presented for possible charges. The loss valued at $200.
• On Oct. 6, a St. Matthews woman reported that another woman knocked out a window of her apartment. The woman said she wanted to press charges against the suspect and needed a report to give to management to explain the $200 broken window.
