A 23-year-old Orangeburg man was shot in the thigh as he walked along Bamberg Road, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

The man’s sister drove him to the Regional Medical Center at 7 p.m. Friday. Staff called the sheriff’s office.

The man told deputies that he was walking on the side of the road past the flea market on Bamberg Road when he heard two gunshots.

Once he realized he’d been struck in the thigh, about six inches above his knee, he fell to the ground.

He told deputies that he didn’t see any vehicles or anyone once he got back up. That’s when he called his sister to take him to the hospital.
