A 22-year-old Orangeburg man says he doesn’t know who shot him in the leg or who took him to the hospital, according to an incident report.
Deputies spoke to the man at 11 p.m. Wednesday at the Regional Medical Center. They described him as “alert and conscious.”
The man told deputies the shooting occurred while he was at a housewarming party at a residence on S.C. Highway 400. About 40 to 50 people were at the party, he said.
The man “stated he did not know who the house belonged to or who shot him,” the report states.
No one called 911 because the home was “so far away,” the man said. Someone dropped him off at the hospital, but he didn’t know who drove him there.
Deputies located the injured man’s 14-year-old cousin in the lobby.

The cousin said he didn’t know his own name, date of birth or address, the report said.
He also said that he was asleep when someone took him to the party, so he didn’t know its exact location.
The cousin saw a black car with its lights off drive by the party.
A man opened fire from inside the vehicle, he said. He didn’t know the shooter’s name.
The cousin also didn’t know the name or race of the man who drove him and the gunshot victim to the hospital, the report said.
The report says, “It should be noted that OCSO did not receive any calls for shooting incidents/noise complaints on or near Highway 400 during the timeframe of this incident.”
The case remains active.
