A St. Matthews man said another man assaulted him with a beer bottle, hitting him over the head, then cutting him with the broken bottle.

On March 2, the victim reported a verbal altercation with another St. Matthews man. According to the victim, the suspect broke a full bottle of beer on the victim’s head, resulting in cuts.

The victim said the suspect then cut him with the broken bottle in the stomach area.

In other reports:

• An officer cited a St. Matthews man for simple possession of marijuana after stopping him at a police checkpoint.

On Feb. 15, an officer was conducting a public safety check and stopped a grey Nissan Maxima. The officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the interior.

The driver allowed the search of his vehicle and 0.14 ounces of marijuana was found. The officer issued a citation for simple possession of marijuana to the driver.

• On March 16, a St. Matthews man reported that on March 11, someone stole his .22-caliber long rifle from his garage. The rifle was valued is $150.

• On March 16, a St. Matthews man reported that someone threw a rock through a window of his shed and the window screen was cut. The person was unable to gain entry. The damage was valued at $150.
