A pedestrian died Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Orangeburg County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The 21-year-old Manning man was crossing Big Buck Boulevard at 9:05 p.m. when he was hit by a 2008 Honda. He died at the scene.

The 18-year-old driver was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation.

An 88-year-old pedestrian died last week after he was struck by an Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle at 10:09 p.m. on U.S. Highway 301 near the intersection of Canaan Road a few miles from Orangeburg.

The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing.

The deputy will not face charges.

Earlier this month, a 44-year-old Orangeburg man died after being struck by two vehicles. The accident occurred around 9:35 p.m. on U.S. Highway 301, just south of Orangeburg.

He was hit by a 2014 Toyota sedan and a 1994 Mitsubishi coupe. The vehicles were traveling north when they struck the man.

Neither driver was injured and neither driver is facing charges.
