Orangeburg County

Sheriff’s Office

The S.C. Highway Patrol surprised a Campus Drive woman with word that her vehicle was involved in a chase Tuesday night, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

She looked outside and her 2003 silver Honda Accord was gone.

The woman said troopers then showed her a photo of the driver her vehicle. Troopers told her that the driver fled the scene.

She confirmed that the photograph looked like her boyfriend and told officers that he must have taken her vehicle while she was asleep, the report said.

The woman told deputies that she and her boyfriend live together, but she never lets him use the vehicle.

The value of the vehicle is $5,500. Troopers had it towed from the scene.

In an unrelated report, an Orangeburg man reported Tuesday morning that he found a rifle on North Road.

He was traveling near Tractor Supply Company when he saw a firearm fall off of the hood of a gold Kia, according to the incident report.

Deputies are storing the rifle in the evidence room for safekeeping.
