Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office

A middle school student reported that her mother beat her, “in the face with her fist causing bruises” on her head, face and neck, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

The student had cuts inside of her mouth, according to the report. She wears braces.

The student told a school counselor. The counselor contacted the S.C. Department of Social Services on Wednesday.

DSS made contact with the sheriff’s office on Friday.

In other reports:

• An employee at Fairey Chevrolet, located at 2885 St. Matthews Road, reported Friday that someone stole a 2015 white crew cab Chevrolet flatbed pickup truck valued at $25,000.

• An employee at Superior Kia, located at 875 Five Chop Road, reported Saturday that someone stole a 2000 tan Toyota Corolla valued at $4,000.

Nearly two hours later, someone located the vehicle at 100 Fish Hatchery Road in Cordova.

Orangeburg Department of Public Safety

A Moore Road man reported Friday that someone stole his 16-foot Carry On cargo trailer and the items that were inside of it.

Those other items include a GE glass top stainless steel range stove, a wicker patio couch and two chairs, potted plants, two orange outdoor extension cords, an 8-foot aluminum Carry On ladder, a Black and Decker pole saw, a Black and Decker leaf blower, a shovel, a hoe rake, a pitchfork, two rakes, a gray set of electric hedge trimmers and a green set of electric hedge trimmers.

The man said the items went missing sometime during the night.

The value of the stolen items is $6,550.
