Deputies took an Orangeburg man into custody just before 2 a.m. Thursday after someone reported hearing shots fired at a Gregg Street bar.
When deputies arrived, they saw a man walking quickly to the restroom and dropping something, an incident report states.
They detained the man and placed him in a patrol car.
Deputies investigated the origin of the sound and noticed a revolver loaded with five bullets in a toilet.
Deputies said the man admitted to tossing the revolver in the toilet.
The report states he told deputies, “I don’t even know why I did it.”
Dispatchers alerted deputies that the man was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Deputies charged him with unlawful carrying of a pistol.
In addition, they served him with active warrants from 2017: first-offense possession of crack cocaine and habitual offender driving under suspension.

• At 8:37 a.m. Tuesday, the school resource officer at Edisto High School responded to the principal’s office in reference to unlawful weapons on school campus, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
The principal stated that he and the assistant principal conducted an administrative search of a student’s vehicle, which was parked on campus at R M Foster Road in Cordova.
They allegedly discovered three knives and two machetes in the bed of the vehicle, the report states.
The principal and assistant principal also searched the student in question and discovered the 15-year-old did not have any weapons on his person.
The principal gave the knives and machetes to the school resource officer.
• A Cameron Road woman reported Tuesday afternoon that the following items were stolen from her home: a 50-inch television, one pair of Nike Jordans sneakers, one pair of Nike Airmax sneakers, a Microsoft Xbox gaming system, a DirectTV box, a jewelry box containing 15 watches, two board games and $7,000 in cash.
The value of the stolen items is $8,155.
• A Bamberg Road man reported at 4:02 a.m. Tuesday that someone stole his 2000 white Ford F150 pickup valued at $2,000.
• Someone stole three televisions and a disk jockey speaker from a Bill Salley Road residence in Orangeburg on Tuesday.
The value of the stolen items is $1,150.
