A Waycross Street mother and her young son were not injured despite gunshots ringing out in front of her Orangeburg home early Sunday.

It was around 2:45 a.m. when her young son was asleep in the bed and she laid next to him looking at a social media page.

She heard a vehicle pull up to the residence. Then there were gunshots.

She grabbed her young son and the two of them hit the floor.

She heard the vehicle speed off from the area and she called law enforcement.

Boy, 14, injured as two dozen bullets hit home

When deputies and investigators arrived, they found several spent shell casings in front of her residence.

The criminal investigation division is looking further into this incident.
