Orangeburg Department of Public Safety officers want to speak to this person in connection with a theft from a laundromat.

The Orangeburg Department of Public Safety is trying to identify a person who may have knowledge of a recent theft at the Wash House laundromat, located at 1000 Chestnut St.

“The business has been burglarized several times in the past year,” Capt. Alfred Alexander said.

Investigators would like to speak with an individual seen in surveillance video footage recorded on Monday morning, he said. The person of interest is a black male who was wearing a dark hoodie and a blue ball cap with white lettering.

An employee of the Wash House said when he arrived at work at 8:20 a.m. Monday, seven laundry machines had damage from someone trying to break into them.

A burglar was able to successfully break into one of the machines and remove approximately $100 from the coin receptacle.

A customer told officers the machines were already damaged when he arrived at 5 a.m.

Anyone with information about the crime or person of interest is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
