A Holly Hill woman is accused of shooting and killing a man around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Sabrina Strickland, 50, of 773 Target Road, is facing one count each of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime,

according to Richard Walker of the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

“It's early in the investigation, but there's no doubt this is the individual who fired the fatal shot,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “We're now at the point of trying to put together the pieces as to what led up to this.”

Family members of the deceased man identified him as 46-year-old Robert McWaters.

Walker said he had a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Strickland admitted to investigators she fired the fatal shot, Walker said. She claims the shooting was an accident.

Investigators say they have located evidence to the contrary.

“We'll let the evidence speak for itself,” Ravenell said. “The stories we've been given aren't holding up.”

According to recent sheriff’s office incident reports, deputies responded to a domestic dispute at the residence in early May.

Strickland called deputies to the residence alleging she and McWaters got into an argument about relationship issues.
