Denmark shooting victims identified

Someone shot and killed two men inside a Denmark convenience store.

The two men killed at a Denmark convenience store Thursday night have been identified, according to Bamberg County Coroner Billy Duncan.

Kiran Patel, 32, and Chiray Patel, 34, both of Denmark, died from gunshot wounds inside Po Boys, located at 17729 Heritage Highway.

Ashadeep Newspaper, based in Gujarat, India, acknowledged the slayings on its social media page on Friday.

Translated into English, the newspaper reported, “The sad news is that Patel Kiranbhai of Bhatasan village was shot dead in a store in South Carolina, Denmark, and his brother-in-law, Chirag's brother, was also killed. The sad news has caused a wave of mourning throughout the village.”

The S.C. Law Enforcement Division is investigating the deaths at the request of Denmark Police Chief Leroy Grimes.

Details about the incident have not yet been released and the case remains under investigation.

SLED has not announced the arrest of a suspect.
