The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to follow leads in the investigation of a Cope homicide, spokesman Richard Walker said.

No arrests have been made yet, he said.

A Cope resident discovered a man’s body in the cemetery at Slab Landing Road and Avalon Court on the morning of Dec. 26 at 7:20 a.m.

The man suffered a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office incident report.

Billy Duncan, of Carroll Mortuary, confirmed that the body was that of Louis D’mitri Patrone Wise, 40, of 1045 Locust Avenue, Denmark.

Wise was laid to rest following a funeral service on Wednesday at Capernaum Baptist Church in Denmark.

If anyone has information about Wise’s death, they are asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
