Bullets damaged several homes and a vehicle over the weekend and into the New Year, according to Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office incident reports.

Three Baxter Street residents spoke with deputies on Sunday morning after realizing their property was damaged by gunfire between midnight and 4:30 a.m. No one was injured during the shootings.

One of the residents said he heard gunshots outside early Sunday morning, but didn’t know his home was damaged at the time.

At 7:30 a.m., he discovered that some of the marble on his kitchen table was broken. The glass door which leads to his garage was shattered.

Deputies recovered a shell casing on the kitchen floor.

Another resident spoke with deputies at 8:39 a.m. and reported that her vehicle was damaged by gunfire.

Her son heard gunshots around midnight.

She checked her vehicle at 7 a.m. and saw that a bullet struck it.

At 9 a.m., deputies made contact with a third Baxter Street resident. She said no one was inside her residence when a bullet struck it earlier.

On New Year’s Day at 12:44 a.m., a Maurice Drive woman called deputies to report that someone fired a shot through her bedroom window.

Prior to the bullet shattering her bedroom window, she’d heard several shots and fireworks, but the noise seemed to be far away, she said.

Each incident is being looked into by investigators.
