Bowman woman charged in robbery, but not death

A Bowman woman is accused of helping to rob a Bowman man, but is not charged in his shooting death.

Rachael Inez Britt, 29, of 240 Corn Street is charged with accessory before the fact to armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

She remains jailed at the Orangeburg County Detention Center on a $50,000 cash or surety bond set by Magistrate Don West on Saturday.

Britt’s arrest warrants accuse her of conspiring with co-defendant Brandon Jeffery Brown, 34, of Canal Street, Bowman, to rob 55-year-old Ervin E. Jones on Sept. 17.

“Britt did aid and conspire with co-defendant to rob Ervin Jones. During the robbery, Jones was shot and killed,” the warrant alleges.

Brown is facing a murder charge in Jones’ death. Others charged with murder are Daniel Goodwin Jr., 26, of 123 Ann Street, Harleyville and Joshua Nyrel Davis, 25, of 450 Elm Street, Bowman.

Brown is also facing charges of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

Goodwin and Davis are also facing charges of armed robbery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and criminal conspiracy.

The three men remain at the detention center. A circuit judge may consider setting their bonds at a later date.
