A Blackville man has been charged in a 2014 shooting death that officials say stemmed from a drug transaction in Denmark.
The S.C. Law Enforcement Division took Xavier Maurice Washington, 27, into custody on Tuesday. He’s been charged with murder, attempted murder and armed robbery.
SLED warrants claim that on March 29, 2014, Washington and co-defendant Brandon Ranell Priester, 31, met three people on Voorhees Road for a drug transaction.
SLED warrants accuse Washington and Priester of robbing the men and opening fire into their vehicle.
William Pearson died as a result of being shot, according to SLED. Another person received a head injury.
SLED charged Priester, 31, of 141 Ethel Terrace, Blackville, with murder, attempted murder and armed robbery in February 2016.
His charges remain pending.
Later in 2016, SLED charged Kevin Arturo Lopez, 21, of 119 Harness Lane, Kissimmee, Florida with attempted murder. His charges are also pending.

SLED accuses Lopez of firing multiple shots at a member of Washington and Priester’s group, which injured a member of that group.
If Washington or Priester are convicted of murder, they face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
