A suspect in a Berkeley County incident was taken into custody near Eutawville on Monday afternoon, according to Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Carli Drayton.

Officers with the Holly Hill Police Department, Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office, Eutawville Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service took Jimmy “Tootie” Allen Mizzell into custody.

The 44-year-old, of 720 Old River Road, Goose Creek, is facing six felony warrants: possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony, possession of ammunition by a person convicted of a violent felony, pointing and presenting a firearm, breaking into motor vehicle and two counts of petit larceny with enhancement.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred at the Cypress Gardens boat landing in Moncks Corner on May 25.

On June 7, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office posted on social media that the agency was actively seeking Mizzell and warned the public that he was “considered armed and extremely dangerous.”

On Monday, the sheriff’s office posted on social media that authorities took Mizzell into custody and thanked the public for messages and phone calls with tips.
