The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Matthews Police Department announced Friday that all suspects in the Dec. 4 armed robbery of the BB&T branch in St. Matthews are now in custody.
At approximately 12:04 p.m. Friday, three armed males entered the BB&T branch located on F.R. Huff Drive in St. Matthews and demanded the tellers empty their drawers.
The males then fled the scene in a dark blue sedan, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
“These arrests can be attributed to good, old-fashioned dedicated police work” Sheriff Thomas Summers said.
In custody are: Joshua Justin Zeigler, 28; Harold Leroy Butler Jr., 22 and Marquil Deshawn Ball, 26, all from Columbia.
Summers says that his investigators worked tirelessly day and night from the initial call of the robbery until these men were in custody to see that the job was done.
“Certainly, it was a combined effort and pure man hours that saw this case resolved,” he said.
All suspects are charged with armed robbery, entering a bank with the intent to steal, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy.
All three were taken into custody by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force. Also assisting in the investigation was the Columbia Police Department, the Midlands Gang Task Force and the FBI.
All three suspects have now been booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
