A Gaston man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a Calhoun County woman.
Anthony McCracken, 31, from Gaston has been charged with murder, according to Sheriff Thomas Summers.
Suzanne Cook, 81, of Romley Street, Gaston, died from multiple stab wounds to her upper body, according to Calhoun County Coroner Donnie Porth.
“My investigators have determined that McCracken is the person responsible for this senseless death,” Summers said.
According to the sheriff, McCracken and the victim were acquaintances and both lived at the same residence.
Deputies responded to their residence for a disturbance on Nov. 5 and found the woman deceased.
Investigators have yet to determine a motive in the case and it remains under investigation. McCracken has been transported to the Orangeburg County Detention Center to await bond proceedings.
