Orangeburg native Quentin F. Benjamin was recently promoted to the rank of major by the U.S. Army.

Benjamin is the elder son of Mr. Franklin R. Dash of Orangeburg and Mrs. Bettye Benjamin Ravenell of St. Matthews. He received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Troy University in Alabama and was commissioned through the U.S. Army Officer Candidate School as a second lieutenant in the Quarter Master Corps on April 18, 2008.

Following his commissioning, Benjamin was assigned to Alpha Company 602 Aviation Battalion as the Supply Support Activity Platoon leader at Camp Humphreys, Korea, 109th Quarter Master Company; as the Executive Officer at Fort Lee, Virginia, where he deployed in support of OEF 1O-11 to Bagram Airfield and Kabul, Afghanistan.

While deployed, Benjamin served in the capacity of Executive Officer and Support Operations Officer, Deputy SPO of 530th CSSB, 1-82 Field Artillery Battalion as Golf Forward Support Company Commander and Foxtrot Forward Support Company Commander, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, Brigade S4 of 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, USARCENT Combat Operations and Intelligence Cell Battle Captain, and currently serves as the Chief of Operations and Maneuver with the 2503rd Digital Liaison Detachment.

Benjamin received his master of arts degree from Webster University in procurement and acquisitions in December 2017 while serving at USARCENT HQ's, located at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.

Benjamin is a graduate of the Quarter Master Officer Basic Course, Captains Career Course, Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Rigger School, Drill Sergeant School, Support Operation I and 2. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal (20LC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (70LC), Army Good Conduct Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army

Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Parachutist Rigger Badge and Drill Sergeant Badge.

Benjamin is married to the former Varncille T. Copeland of Savannah,

Georgia. They have five children, RaShee, Kiona, Quendra, Nia and Quentin Jr.
