BAMBERG -- A police officer rolled up on the scene early Saturday as a shooting incident that injured four people was unfolding at a pool hall in Bamberg.

Bamberg Police Lt. Regina Gatling said the incident took place at 682 Dixie Ave. at 1:12 a.m. Saturday as Sgt. Christopher Sandifer was beginning a property check at Richburg’s.

“There was an altercation and the officer heard the shots being fired,” Gatling said.

He called for backup officers to respond to the scene for crowd control and to provide further assistance. It is believed that two shooters are involved and both fled amid the confusion at the scene.
