ORANGEBURG OUT OF THE PAST

New River Pavilion Construction, 1950: A new river pavilion was constructed at the swimming area at the Edisto River back in 1950. This facility replaced the outdated original pavilion that was constructed around 1930. This new pavilion was designed by City Engineer Alec Brown, who also supervised the construction process. Today this building houses the Orangeburg Arts Center which is currently undergoing a major facility renovation.
