HOLLY HILL -- One of the most prestigious awards given to high school juniors is the honor of being a Palmetto Girls State or Palmetto Boys State delegate.

The two organizations have the objective to take students who have demonstrated leadership in their own communities and train them in practical, democratic principles of government by having them participate in organization, election and functions of these governmental units. It is hoped that the enthusiasm generated at Boys and Girls State will be taken back to their local communities.
