CORDOVA -- Students and faculty at Edisto High School observed Veterans' Day by attending a ceremony held at the school Monday, Nov. 11. The Edisto High Band, Chorus, and AFJROTC all participated in a ceremony to honor local area veterans present.

Donald Royster recounted the tradition surrounding the "Missing Man table" on display at the event, and the chorus performed a patriotic performance.

Brig Gen. Rick Leonard, of the Cope Are Career Center, delivered remarks encouraging students to seek out local veterans and learn their stories.

Student Body President Hailey Antley recognized each veteran in attendance by name and the ceremony ended with a rousing rendition of the Armed Forces medley.

Monday marked the 100th anniversary of Veterans Day, a day honoring the men and women who have fought for our freedom in our nation’s armed forces.
