The Orangeburg Music Club will be hosting a Classical Piano Concert by Dr. Eunjung Choi at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Stevenson Auditorium, 222 Middleton Street.
Dr. Choi is a native of Seoul, South Korea and currently serves as Associate Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Claflin University. Most recently, she has been awarded a South Carolina Arts Commission Quarterly Grant to make her solo piano performance CD (released in June 2016), titled "Inside Out: A Journey." Dr. Choi has also been awarded a Major Grant from the Humanities Council, titled "Promoting South Carolina African-American Composers' Classical Music," and has presented a lecture-recital series around the state. Her presentations have included topics such as multicultural music performance and teaching strategies, and curriculum development to integrate music and English language learning.
In addition to her active schedule as a soloist, collaborative artist, master-class clinician, and adjudicator, Dr. Choi is a vice president of conferences of the South Carolina Music Teachers Association and also serves on the board of directors of the Korean Association of Piano Pedagogy.
Dr. Choi holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of South Carolina, a master's degree in Piano and Organ Performance from Ball State University, and a bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from Dongduk Women's University, Seoul, South Korea.
