I arrived in Seoul, South Korea and was met and picked up by a dear friend and her husband. They took me to Suwon to spend 10 days taking pictures of that lovely city.

Suwon is home to the Hwaseong Fortress, which was built as a self-contained, planned city with fortress walls during King Jeongio's era of the Joseon Dynasty.

The fortress was built between 1794 and 1796. In 1997, UNESCO designated it as a World Heritage site.

This year was the 55th Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival. I had a wonderful time taking pictures of the many different events that were held throughout the Fortress. The colors and pageantry at these events were stunning. I really enjoyed going to so many of the events and getting closeups of the people performing at the events. The parade at the beginning of the festival was full of color, style and grace. There were so many people involved in the parade, and the precision and teamwork they displayed were just amazing.

I have been very fortunate to get to know a lot of people in Suwon and have found them to be very loving, caring and compassionate people. When I visited last year, I got introduced to the mayor of Suwon and his team, and they were so helpful and took the time to take me around to the many special historic places in Suwon.

Last year after my trip to Suwon, The Times and Democrat allowed me to write an article about my trip, and the paper was kind enough to publish some pictures and a story about Suwon. The mayor and his team appreciated the newspaper for promoting their beautiful city, and they honored me with a plaque, flowers and a wonderful meal.

I want to thank all of the wonderful people of Suwon for taking their time to show me around, taking me to so many different cultural events and ensuring that l had a safe and wonderful time in their city.

After my 10 days in Suwon, I got to travel to many different cities in Korea with a group of people, and I had a wonderful time getting to see and learn more about my beautiful country. I am so proud of my birth country, and I love how the people are so loving and caring. I am so thankful for a wonderful trip to Korea but am also glad to be home with my family and friends.
