DENMARK  -- Jazzist Eboni Ramm will appear at CRAWL's 5th Friday Lawn Chair Leisure Series event at 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, at 927 Hagood Ave., in Denmark.

CRAWL, Community Real Arts Work League of Bamberg County, will host Ramm as the entertainment at Chalk It Up, a program that will include a chalkboard/sidewalk art competition as well as a Children's Corner of health and crafting.

"We will have a lot of things happening at the art park that day," founder of Faith Action Ministries Pastor Deloris Stanley said. "We have the judging of the art and the kids drawing too. We'll supply them with the chalk, but the adults who are competing can bring their own. And we are giving $100, $75 and $50 prizes for first, second and third places."

Artists are free to begin drawing at 4 p.m. Friday. The only direction is that drawings must reflect a sense of home, community or place, Denmark vocalist Ashley Jordan said. Judging will begin at 5:30 p.m. and attendees may vote on a People's Choice Award winner until 6:30 p.m. The Children's Corner will be open at 4 p.m. for those who choose to draw. Nutrition and movement activities will begin at 5 p.m. Visual artists and children are invited to be audience members when Eboni Ramm takes the stage at 6 p.m.

"This 5th Friday will be unique," says LaShandra Morgan of Growing C.O.B, and organization that advocates fresh food and healthy eating. "At 7 p.m. we will distribute fresh food. We invite members of the community to come be a part of all of the activities."

The event is free and open to the public. Parking in front of the park is restricted. Remember to bring your lawn chairs. For more information, contact bcsccrawl@gmail.com.
