COLUMBIA – The holidays are in full swing at the South Carolina State Museum. Jingle Days is a two weeks celebration packed with holiday fun for the whole family. From Holidays around the World and an exclusive Nutcraker performance and meet and greet to a Kid’s Holiday Spa Workshop, guests of all ages will experience the joy of the holiday season at the museum.
In addition to these exciting events, Jingle Days will be filled with daily activities like holiday scavenger hunts, arts and crafts and special theater performances from Columbia Marionette Theater, Dec. 20 at 1:30 p.m. and Bright Star Traveling Theater, Dec. 22 at 1:30 and 3 p.m.
Holidays around the World, Dec. 16 (11 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
The State Museum will kick off Jingle Days during this special event from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. featuring Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet, performing scenes from The Nutcracker. Guests will also experience international holiday celebrations like Kwanza, Hanukkah, and hear the stories of St. Lucia, Tomte, Christkind and more. Santa will pay a special visit from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and throughout the day the museum lobby will be filled with international crafts, food, music and dancing. This event is free with general admission.
Nutcracker Characters Meet and Greet, Dec. 17 (2 p.m.)
Ann Brodie’s Carolina Ballet will give a short performance of scenes from The Nutcracker and guests will get an exclusive meet and greet to take photos with characters at 2 p.m.
Kids Holiday Workshops, Dec. 19; 20; 21 (11 a.m. – 2 p.m.)
Kids are invited to create their own spa themed gifts for family and friends from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Guests will receive two tickets per child with general admission. Each ticket will allow a child to create gifts like milk baths, sugar scrubs, foaming hand soap and bath salts.

The State Museum is open Monday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; Wednesday – Friday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, 12 – 5 p.m. General admission to the museum is $6.95 for children 12 and under, $7.95 for seniors and $8.95 for adults. Planetarium and 4D Experience are an additional cost.
