Mount Pisgah Baptist Church

Founded in 1853, Mount Pisgah Baptist Church has a track record of long-serving ministers. During one period, which spanned almost 100 years, the church had just three pastors – one who served more than 40 years, one who served more than 30 years and another who guided the flock for more than 20 years.

The historic Mount Pisgah Baptist Church will celebrate its 165th church anniversary on Saturday and Sunday, June 22-23, at 310 Green St.

The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with a Family and Friends Picnic, which will include fellowship, food, fun and games and door prizes.

The two-day event continues at 10 a.m. Sunday with a worship service, which will feature a morning message from the Rev. Sam Livingston Sr., pastor of Antioch Baptist Church of Manning. The festivities will conclude with a fellowship dinner following services in the F.G.S. Everette Educational Building.

The Mount Pisgah event began a number of years ago as a tribute to the church's longevity in the Sunnyside community and to foster fellowship in the community.
