ELLOREE -- Senior citizens were honored at the 48th Annual Christmas Luncheon sponsored by the Business Women’s Circle of Elloree United Methodist Church on Dec. 2.
As guests entered the church and were welcomed by Rev. Hope Avins and Circle members, they were presented a Christmas ornament. Everyone gathered in the church sanctuary, which was decorated with the Chrismon tree, hurricane lamps, red poinsettias and garlands of green adorning the altar railing. After enjoying fellowship with friends, everyone was welcomed, and Avins offered the blessing.
Guests were then escorted to the church social hall, where the red tablecloths were decorated with lighted lanterns embellished with pine, magnolia and fresh cedar.
The group enjoyed a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
Becky Starnes’ performance as “Minnie Pearl" filled the hall with laughter. Everyone joined in singing favorite Christmas carols. Joan Jameson was thanked for accompanying the melodies sung by the group.
Gifts were presented to the most senior lady, Mary Avinger, and the most senior gentleman, Lou Ramponi. Each guest received a Christmas stocking containing a candy cane.
Circle members appreciate the loving, capable assistance of Lynn Black, Patricia Heape, Joan Jameson, Sharon Persinger and Faith Risher.
Following tradition, Business Women’s Circle members Betty Dukes, Karen Hardman, Judy Lambert, Nancy Oliver and Sarah Ann Parler sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” as a culmination to the festivities.
