CROSS -- The Cabela's King Kat Tournament Trail season blasted off Feb. 16, with 64 teams from 12 states competing to catch the biggest Santee Cooper monster catfish.

Tournament day began with rain in the morning and then it turned windy in the afternoon on the Santee Cooper lakes out of Blacks Camp and Restaurant in Cross. By the 3 p.m. weigh-in, the weather improved.

Santee Cooper did not disappoint, with two anglers catching their personal bests. A big congratulations to Ronnie Hughes with a 76.86-pound blue and Sharon Strength with a 60.70-pound blue, their personal bests.
