Claflin Night with FireFlies
COLUMBIA – Saturday’s minor league baseball game between the Columbia FireFlies and Rome Braves will be Claflin Night with the FireFlies.
Claflin President Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the 6 p.m. game at Segra Park in Columbia.
Tickets for Claflin students are available through the Office of Student Activities. Alumni tickets are available through the Office of Alumni Relations (803-535-5348).
Tigers to play for heavyweight title
LAS VEGAS — Clemson University men’s basketball will battle for the Heavyweight Championship belt of the MGM Resorts Main Event, tipping off with a matchup against TCU on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 10:30 p.m. from T-Mobile Arena. Tickets for the two-day tournament go on sale to the public on Friday at 1 p.m. ET.
Clemson’s matchup with TCU will be preceded by Colorado vs. Wyoming at 8 p.m.
The consolation and championship games will be played on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. ET.
Reynolds gets top MEAC award
NORFOLK, Va. —The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference has named Julius Reynolds from North Carolina A&T State University as the 2019 Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
Reynolds competed in football for four seasons and he played a vital role in helping lead the Aggies to three MEAC championships, three Celebration Bowl titles, three Black College Football National Championships and one NCAA playoff bid.
This past season, Reynolds had 22 total tackles (18 solo), four of which were for loss, and a sack. He also had a pair of interceptions, tied for second most on the team, as part of an Aggies defense that ranked third nationally in total defense, fourth in rushing defense and fifth in scoring defense.
