About the McNair Center for Entrepreneurism at Columbia College

The McNair Center for Entrepreneurism at Columbia College creates and sustains an entrepreneurial ecosystem within the College that provides education, apprenticeships, mentoring, capital access and professional skills development to students. It is dedicated to disseminating best practices for this ecosystem development to other small to mid-size higher education institutions and is one of eight McNair Centers for Entrepreneurism in the U.S.

As part of the College’s Institute for Leadership & Professional Excellence, the McNair Center serves Columbia College students in both the Women’s College and in its co-educational Professional Studies programs, in addition to connecting with regional entrepreneurial and innovation communities. There are four main components to the services of the McNair Center: the McNair Fellows program now in its third cohort year; the Columbia College Micro-Seed Fund, which provides startup resources to students; an entrepreneur mentor network connecting students to mentors in the community; and the McNair Entrepreneurship Cabinet, a group of advisors to the programs and services of the Center. In addition, the McNair Center offers outreach entrepreneurship educational programs for girls and women through its partnerships with Kauffman FastTrac, YESCarolina and The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.
