Steven Hughes, a financial educator, will speak as part of South Carolina State University’s Executive Speaker Series at noon Wednesday in the fourth-floor auditorium of Belcher Hall.
Hughes’ discussion topic will be "Know Money, No Problems: A New Wave in Financial Education and Entrepreneurship."
Hughes is the founder and chief financial mentor of Know Money, Incorporated, educating youth and young adults about budgeting, saving, investing, debt elimination and credit repair and recovery.
Hughes is a founding partner in Regal Key Investments, a real estate investing group that buys and sells houses across South Carolina. With Regal Key, he teaches others how to achieve wealth by creating a financial foundation through real estate and sound money management strategies.
Hughes has worked with nearly 1,000 individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations such as the University of South Carolina, Columbia College, Verizon Wireless and EdVenture Children’s Museum to educate them and their members on how to enhance their education and financial goals.
Recently, he was selected to a leadership position by the World Economic Forum for a global initiative called the Global Shapers Community. The community is a network of city-based hubs that develops young leaders by having them engage in projects to improve their communities.
A graduate of Clemson University, Hughes has a bachelor’s degree in management with a concentration in human resources.
