Sprayer calibration training May 8

Industrial hemp shows promise for S.C. agriculture

A farm/garden sprayer calibration training workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, in Santee.

Looking peachy in S.C.: Late freeze damage minimal but there are other concerns

The free workshop will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 3656 Tee Vee Road.

The workshop will include a classroom portion where methods of calibration will be discussed.

An outside portion will also be available. Here participants will have the opportunity to practice calibrating spray equipment. 

Topics to be discussed:

  • Calibrating for broadcast application
  • Calibrating banded application
  • Calibrating sprayers with multiple nozzles per row
  • Calculating liquid fertilizer rates

Pesticide credits will be offered.

Urban tree care workshop

Orangeburg County Clemson Extension is putting on an urban tree care workshop on Monday, May 20, in Lexington.

Jimmy Walters -- certified arborist, state registered forester and president of the Southern Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture -- will discuss species selection, proper planting and pruning basics for improved urban tree care.

The workshop is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at 605 West Main St. in Lexington.

Registration is $25 by May 16th. Late registration is $30.
