Varnadoe - Davis

Lori Anna Varnadoe and Christopher Lee Davis were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, S.C.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard George Varnadoe of Ehrhardt, S.C. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Billy Beard of Ehrhardt and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Henry Varnadoe of Lodge, S.C.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson Asa Davis, Sr., of Camden, S.C. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Lee Copeland and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson Davis, all of Camden.

The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Dr. Tony A. Metze.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Matrons of honor were Mrs. Heather Schneider Alligood of Edgemoor, S.C. and Mrs. Juli Mull Lemming of Rome, GA.

Bridesmaids were Ms. Katie Elizabeth Jerald of Columbia and Mrs. Ashley Durham Johnson of Trophy Club, TX.

Junior bridesmaids were Miss Gracen Faith Davis and Miss Hannah Julianne Davis, nieces of the groom, of Lancaster, S.C.; and Miss Lucy Ren Varnadoe niece of the bride, of Reevesville, S.C.

Honorary bridesmaids were Mrs. Brittney Kirkland Herlong of Batesburg, S.C.; Ms. Michelle Elizabeth Hyjeck of Aliso Viejo, CA; Ms. Christina Katherine Lor of Mount Pleasant, S.C. and Mrs. Kerri Crawford Pratt of Ware Shoals, S.C.

The bridegroom’s father served as best man.

Groomsmen were Mr. David Alan Byrum of Lexington, S.C.; Thompson Asa Davis, Jr., brother of the groom, of Lancaster; Mr. Harold Ervin Munro of Columbia; Mr. Shane Patrick Sonnefeld of Chapin, S.C. and Mr. Richard Alan Varnadoe, brother of the bride, of Ehrhardt.

Junior groomsman was Mr. Graham Alan Varnadoe, nephew of the bride, of Reevesville.

Ushers were Mr. Bradley Lowell Benson of Lexington; Mr. Robert McBride Credille of Irmo, S.C. and Mr. Mark Adam Tevepaugh of Chapin.

Flower girl was Miss Brigsley Raine Alligood of Edgemoor, S.C.

Ring Bearer was Master Thomas Jasper Lemming of Rome, GA.

Music for the ceremony was provided by Lucinda Brandt, Organist; Philip Gee, Vocalist and Nick Annan, Trumpeter. Processional musical selections were: “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by Johann Sebastian Bach for the mothers; “Canon in D” for the bridal party and the bride entered to “Trumpet Voluntary in D Major” by Jeremiah Clarke on the arm of her father. “Hornpipe from Water Music” by G.F. Handel was selected for the recessional music. Solos performed during the ceremony were “All of My Life” by Irving Berlin and “The Lord’s Prayer” by Albert H. Malotte. The solo “All of My Life” was sung during the 1941 wedding ceremony of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Billy Beard, maternal grandparents of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Central Energy in the BullStreet District of Columbia, which once powered the former South Carolina State Hospital. The beautiful space was filled with flowers from Wimberly Fair Designs of Charleston. On-site catering was prepared by Chef Crawford Pressley of Loosh Culinaire Fine Catering with beverages served by Black Tie Bartending. The three-tiered white buttercream wedding cake was adorned with fresh florals and prepared by Bonnie Brunt Cakes of St. Matthews, S.C. The bride and groom cut their wedding cake with the same knife the bride’s parents used to cut their wedding cake, which was hand-etched with both couples names and wedding dates by Heirloom Hand Engraving of Sumter, S.C. A 1959 Jaguar served as the bride and groom’s getaway car and was driven by Mr. Robert Moore. Before departing, the bride changed into an ivory satin cocktail reception dress that was created by Juanita Design’s of Columbia. The redesigned custom dress was previously worn by the bride’s mother and cousin of the bride, Pam Clayton Hamilton, on their wedding days. The wedding day was directed by Ivana Ferro and Drew Cameron of Meagan Warren Weddings.

Musical entertainment was performed by The Mighty Kicks! of Orangeburg, S.C. Guests enjoyed a vibrant firework show, a live painting by artist and live event painter, Meredith Piper Art of Greenville, and customized sugar cookies from Sugar.Columbia.

Following a 10-day honeymoon in Italy, the couple will reside in Columbia.

Lori Anna is a graduate of Andrew Jackson Academy and she received her Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and a Master of Sport and Entertainment Management degree from the University of South Carolina. She is employed by the State of South Carolina and Meagan Warren Weddings.

Lee is a graduate of Camden High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina. He is a 2014 graduate of the 131st Administrative Officers Course, Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville and Lee is employed by the State of South Carolina.
