Compassionate Care, Close to Home.
Stay up-to-date with screenings and exams.
Regular primary care visits and health screenings are an important part
of maintaining good health. We know that keeping up to date on annual
physicals, well-woman exams, mammograms and screenings, like
colonoscopies, promotes early detection and saves lives.

You’re in good hands with RMC.
RMC facilities are taking measures designed to provide patients and visitors with the safest
experience possible. Social distancing policies, visitor restrictions, masking requirements
and other efforts are in place to keep you and your loved ones safe.

FACTS

If I don’t have a family history of
breast cancer, I won’t get it.

Most people diagnosed with breast cancer have no known family history. Only
about 5-10% of breast cancers are believed to be hereditary. The vast majority
of people who get breast cancer have no family history, suggesting that other
factors must be at work, such as environment and lifestyle.

A 3-D mammogram is the same
as a traditional mammogram.

Three-dimensional (3-D) mammography is the most modern screening and
diagnostic tool available for early detection of breast cancer. With it data shows
a 40 percent increase in detecting early cancer and a 40 percent decrease in
false alarms or unnecessary recalls from screening. It also displays more images
of the breast in thin sections of breast tissue, and provides greater clarity.

Mammograms don’t help.

Regular mammograms are the best tests doctors have to find breast cancer early,
sometimes up to three years before it can be felt.
