Clemson University men’s basketball officially is slotted in as the No. 4 seed at the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Clemson will receive a double bye into the quarterfinals of the tournament and will play on Thursday, March 8, at 2 p.m.
Clemson’s opponent on Thursday will be either N.C. State or the winner of the first round matchup between Georgia Tech and Boston College.
The Tigers finished the regular season with an overall record of 22-8 and 11-7 in conference play. The 22 wins were the most in a regular season since the 2008-09 campaign (23).
With 11 wins in ACC play, Clemson set a new program best for wins in the ACC. Appearing as a No. 4 seed in the tournament ties the best seeding the Tigers have earned under head coach Brad Brownell.
The final seedings for the tournament were not determined until Duke’s 74-64 victory Saturday night over North Carolina .
Duke will be No. 2 seed with UNC now No. 6.
N.C. State’s 76-69 victory over Louisville at PNC Arena has the Wolfpack in the fifth seed and a scheduled 2 p.m start Wednesday against the winner of the Boston College-Georgia Tech first-round game on Tuesday.
North Carolina will have the final game Wednesday and will open against the Syracuse-Wake Forest winner at about 9:30 p.m.
Virginia is the No. 1 seed with a 17-1 record.
Duke is the defending ACC Tournament champion. The Tar Heels are the defending national champions.
