Post 4 postponed for the third time in a week

COLUMBIA - For the third consecutive day, rainfall resulted in the rescheduling of a road contest. Friday’s match-up against Irmo-Chapin Post 193 at Chapin High School will now take place at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Post 4 (3-0) has yet to reschedule its postponed game against Columbia Northeast. Orangeburg returns to Mirmow Field at 7:30 p.m. Monday to face West Columbia Post 79.

Golf tournament fundraiser to be held at Hillcrest

A 3-man captain’s choice tournament will be held at Hillcrest Golf Course on June 22 beginning at 9 a.m.

The registration cost for the tournament is $200 per team. Teams can register on site on the day of the tournament. Mulligans and red tee busters will be available for $5 per person upon arrival. The cash pot for the tournament will be $2,000 for the top three finishers. All proceeds will go towards helping the Jets fast pitch softball team. Orangeburg Eagles to hold tryouts

The Orangeburg Eagles Preparatory basketball program will conduct tryouts for the 2013-14 season on June 15 at the Orangeburg YMCA. Tryouts will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and players are asked to bring shorts, a practice jersey, a towel and water. Eligible players must be between the ages of 17 and 19. Adult soccer league and tournament registration now open

The Orangeburg Soccer Club will hold a 6-on-6 soccer league.

Each team will have 10 members and will pay a league fee of $300 per team or $30 per player. A $100 deposit is required by June 21. The league will have 10 games plus a playoff tournament. There will be a Captains’ meeting at 3 p.m. on June 29 at Hillcrest.

There will also be a 3-on-3 tournament on June 16. Each team is allowed to have a maximium of six players. The registration fee is $100 per team, but there is a $30 late fee if the registration fee is not paid by the day of the tournament.

All-Area baseball and softball nominations

Coaches who wish to nominate players in baseball or softball for the 2013 All-T&D Region teams can either send them via fax at (803) 533-5595 or e-mail at sports@timesanddemocrat.com. Coaches must send the players’ height, position, classification, statistics and other accolades earned. Players who were not nominated will not be considered for All-Area teams.
