Lake Marion 51

Bethune-Bowman 20

BOWMAN -- The Lake Marion varsity girls’ basketball team took a 51-20 victory Friday night over Bethune-Bowman to improve to 2-0 on the year.

The Lady Gators were led by Ahphwanique Waller with 22 points.

Lake Marion will host Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Saturday.

 

Dorchester Academy 40

Orangeburg Prep 38

Dorchester Academy picked up a 40-38 win over Orangeburg Prep on Friday.

Marlee Robinson led the way for OPS with 18 points, while Alyson Hay added 8 points.

DA was led by Elizabeth Huff and Savanna Shelton each with 12 points. Huff also had 16 rebounds.

The Lady Raiders are 1-1 on the season.

The Lady Indians will be in action again on Tuesday with the JV starting at 5 p.m.

Carolina Academy 27

Calhoun Academy defeated Carolina Academy 35-27 on Friday.

Anna Banks Turberville led the way for the Lady Cavs with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

CA improved to 3-0 and 1-0.

VARSITY BOYS BASKETBALL

Orangeburg Prep 69

Dorchester Academy 41

Orangeburg Prep took a 69-41 win over Dorchester Academy on Friday.

Ian Scott led the way for OPs with 21 points and six rebounds. Benjamin Davis had 15 points and five steals, Camron Ellis had 13 points and nine rebounds and Will Shaw had 12 points and 14 rebounds.

The Indians (1-2) will travel to Camden Military at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Chase Way led the way for the Raiders with 19 points. Colby Weeks added 12 points.

DA is now 1-1 on the season.

Calhoun Academy 49,

Carolina 47

Calhoun Academy edged Carolina Academy 49-47 on Friday evening in varsity action.

Calhoun was led by Wells Fleming with 16 points and Matt Layton had 14 points.

Carolina was led by Wills Ellis' game-high 21 points, with Matthews Lambs adding 12.

Calhoun, now 3-0, plays Monday at Holly Hill Academy.

Edisto 72

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 62

CORDOVA -- Edisto got its first win of the season, defeating Hunter-Kinard-Tyler 72-62 in the opener for H-K-T on Friday night.

H-K-T (0-1) will play at Lake Marion on Tuesday.

Marlow Gilmore led H-K-T with 24 points, 12 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 blocks, and Trentez James has 12 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Camry James added 13 points and 9 rebounds.

Calhoun County 98

Swansea 44

The Saints opened the season with a 45-point win at Swansea on Friday night, led by Zamuel Fredrick's 24 points in just three quarters of play, including 6-of-10 shooting from 3-point range.

JV GIRLS BASKETBALL

Orangeburg Prep 39

Dorchester Academy 6

Orangeburg Prep defeated Dorchester Academy 39-6 on Friday.

The Lady Indians were led by Campbell Delaney with 13 points.

Maura Weathers had four points and Shala Guess scored two points for the Lady Raiders.

OPs will travel to Hammond on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Calhoun Academy 33

Carolina Academy took a 40-33 win over Calhoun Academy on Friday.

Laken Barnes led the way for Calhoun Academy with 17 points.

The Lady Cavs are 1-2 and 0-1.

JV BOYS BASKETBALL

Dorchester Academy 19

Orangeburg Prep defeated Dorchester Academy 32-19 on Friday.

The Indians were led by AJ Tolbert with 12 points and Jacob Union with eight points.

Leading scorers for DA was Noah Byron with 12 points and Caleb Byron with four points.

The Raiders are 1-1 on the season.

OPs (1-2) will travel to Hammond on Saturday. Tipoff us at 1 p.m.

Austin Brown led Carolina, while Calhoun was led by Turner Fleming with 8 points.
